Extended Learning Academy (ELA)/Saturday School
In an effort to assist all students in meeting academic standards for promotion, John Muir Middle School is offering an Extended Learning Academy (ELA) for 6th-8th grade students, and a Required Learning Academy (Saturday School) for 6th graders on Saturdays. The Extended/Required Learning Academies are based on a computer assisted standards based instructional program for math or reading. The maximum allowed class size is twenty-five students affording the students a successful learning opportunity.
The Extended Learning Academy/Saturday School Office is in the south wing of the Main Building on the first floor across from the Attendance Office.
Registration slips should be returned to Mrs. Jordan's office or in her mailbox in the main office. Classes meet from 8:00 a.m. 12:05 p.m. Students are given a 20 minute nutrition break. The course includes three hours of classroom instruction with one additional hour of Computer Instruction. Students will be given and Pre-Test and a Post- Test.
Eight grade students can use Saturday School to reduce their number of U's on their report cards so that they may participate in culmination (graduation) ceremonies.
Space for the Saturday instruction is very limited. If you have any questions call (323) 565-2252.
